Learn How The Year Of The Pig Will Impact Your Health and Some Easy Tips To Improve Your Health

The lunar New Year started on February 5 and is the Year of the Pig according to the Chinese calendar. So what does this have to do with you and your health? Well, how does a relaxing and peaceful year sound to you?

The pig is the symbol for home life and being more sedentary. So enjoy being a homebody resting and relaxing more this year. The pig values family and friends, so nourish your relationships and bring on the romance. It is a fertile year, which you can take literally or birth something new like learning a new skill. It is important to go inward this year and work on healing aspects of yourself that are holding you back.

The pig is the last animal in the calendar and represents completion. The pig will help you finally finish any projects that you have been putting off. This is an end of a cycle and new cycle will be starting all over next year. Be sure to start planning your projects so you can get it done.

My favorite part of the pig year is all about food and good tasting foods. On flip side, weight gain could be possible so be mindful of your intake. The elements this year are Earth and Water, which is double Yin. Plus, the pig is a Yin animal. This means there is less Yang Fire to move and heat things up. To prevent too much dampness and phlegm accumulation, include more warming herbs in cooking like ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamon.

If your respiratory system is weak, you might be more susceptible to infections and phlegm production. Earth and Water combined makes for muddy water, hence more phlegm. Incorporate garlic, gingers, and green onions in your diet to help prevent phlegm production.

Since this is a very Yin year and lacking Yang and if you have cardiovascular and circulatory issues; you might experience symptoms. During the summer months, be sure to eat plenty of red fruits like cherries, plums, and red apples to move the blood.

Due to it being a Water year, anyone with Kidney or Bladder issues will present with more symptoms like lower back pain, feeling colder, UTI's, and low libido. When in season, consume blueberries and watermelon.
