ACUPUNCTURE CASE FOR FERTILITY
This woman came to my clinic seeking help after having a recent miscarriage and was heartbroken. She was surprised how quickly she got pregnant, but couldn't understand why she had a miscarriage. So I recommended she come in for a New Patient Exam to see if I could assess any root causes for the miscarriage.
After conducting a New Patient Exam, I was able to uncover a hormonal imbalance. Her periods came with moderate cramps, clots, and headaches. Leading up to her periods she struggled with Premenstrual Syndrome with mood changes. I also uncovered that the imbalanced hormones was causing her problems with her sleep. She was dealing with night sweats, feeling hot, and restless sleep.
During the New Patient Exam, I uncovered dysfunctions of multiple organ systems after conducting a tongue examination, medical pulse examination, vitals like temperature and blood pressure, and abdominal palpation. These organs were causing the disruption of hormonal imbalances.
The treatment goals to optimize her fertility by regulating her hormones....
Reduce PMS so she isn't experience mood changes
Improve her periods so she isn't having cramps, clots, and headaches.
Eliminate night sweats and improve sleep
HOW MANY ACUPUNCTURE SESSIONS TO GET PREGNANT?
After getting a proper diagnosis, I recommended that she come in for 2 acupuncture treatments per week for the first month and weekly herbal consultations. The goal was to make sure there wasn't any issues after the miscarriage.
Then month two and three we reduce the acupuncture to 1 per week and herbal consultation every other week. During this time she started having regular menstrual cycle. Hormonal symptoms were reducing or eliminated. She no longer suffered from night sweats and poor sleep. PMS symptoms were improving with less mood swings and no more headaches.
Before the end of the third month, we got confirmation with a positive pregnancy test and ultrasound.
Not everyone responds this quickly, but it can happen. She was good at following the recommend plan and all the recommendations I offered.
WHEN TO GET ACUPUNCTURE FOR FERTILITY?
I highly recommend starting acupuncture right away if you want to get pregnant within 1-2 years. It is important to make sure your health is dialed in, hormones are balanced, and lifestyle choices are positive for fertility. It is best to start early so you are your most fertile and this way it eliminates any factors that could contribute to infertility or miscarriages.
Every treatment plan is customized her diagnoses and her health needs. Not everyone gets the exact same treatment. When creating a plan, I am considering the health of her menstrual cycle, hormones, sleep quality, digestion, and stress.
